I have noticed that on The Orange British Academy Film Awards, Katy Perry's Teenage Dream was played as Jessica Alba walked onto the stage to present an award. It was also used in an episode of the television programme Sun Sex and Suspicious Parents shown on BBC three. This suggests that the song is very popular to be played on shows like this. It also featured in this weeks episode of Glee which is an American television programme. The cast did a cover version of the song, which again indicates the popularity of the song. The fact that it is played in American shows as well as British, also indicates that it is widely known.
