Performance vs Narrative Video
Performance- A performance video is where the video contains filmed performance and it often shows the artist. It could include an audience where the artist could be performing on stage or walking down a road singing or rapping. One of my favourite performance videos is What I've Done by Linkin Park. Although this is a performance video it also tells a story so it could be seen as narrative as well as Mcfly- The Heart Never Lies:

This is a performance video but it is in the middle of the desert which shows that not all performance videos have to be in a familiar location or on a stage.
Narrative- A narrative video is like a silent movie with music to go to it, so basically a short story. Most of the time the lyrics tell the story in the video like in the video Stan by Eminem and Dido:
I really like this video because the lyrics are being performed so it is like a short film. This I think is really effective because it will make the audience want to watch the video.
